The sub-4m sedan gets subtle aesthetic changes and new Dualjet petrol motor.
India’s largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki introduced its 2020 Dzire at a price tag of Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The biggest change is the replacement of the 1.2L K-Series BS6 petrol engine with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol motor of Maruti Baleno. There are subtle changes to the 2020 Dzire mid-life refresh. The compact sedan renews its rivalry with Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire, and the Tata Tigor.
Here are the five must-know facts about the new 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire:
1. Outside Tweaks
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets redesigned front fascia with a larger chrome-lined cascading grille. The radiator and lower grille appear as a single piece. The L-shaped chrome fog lamp housing makes it distinct from the front. The side profile continues to remain unaltered. The rear of the 2020 Dzire sees no changes except for the addition of bumper-mounted rear parking sensors. It continues to get the 15-inch precision cut alloy wheels of its pre-facelift model.
2. Inside Changes
Step in and you will instantly recognise that it is the same dual-tone cabin of the earlier model. The premium quotient of the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been upped with natural glossy wooden elements on dash and champagne trim accent bits in some areas. Rest of the details remain the same.
3. Under The Hood
Two biggest changes in the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire are the addition of Baleno’s Dualjet petrol engine and omission of the 1.3-litre diesel engine. Replacing the K-Series engine, the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol BS6 motor produces 7 PS of more power in the Dzire than the Baleno. It puts out 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of max torque. It is offered with a five-speed manual transmission or an AGS (Auto Gear Shift) gearbox.
The fuel efficiency figures now read 24.12 kmpl and 23.26 kmpl with AGS and manual transmission, respectively. It now comes with an idle start/stop function to save fuel. It is expected to increase mileage by up to 2 kmpl.
4. New Features
The feature list of the new 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire witnesses addition of the updated version of Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system which comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Moreover, cruise control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with hill hold assist are also added in the refreshed sedan.
