2021 London E-Prix: Huge Win for Mahindra Racing!

Sunday marked an emotional day for Mahindra Racing as Alex Lynn handed the Indian team its first Formula E victory in two years. This victory brought team Mahindra’s winning score to 5 following the 2019 Marrakesh E-Prix win.

Alex Lynn sparked wild celebrations in the Mahindra Racing garage as he steered to his incredible maiden Formula E victory in the Heineken London E-Prix Round 13 leaving Mercedes-EQ’s Nyck de Vries and Mitch Evans of Jaguar Racing rounding out the podium. The win came off the back of a podium for the British driver the day before in the first of the two weekend’s races, when he finished in third place.

In Saturday’s qualifying session, Alex Lynn put his M7Electro racing car through to Super Pole for the sixth time this season and scored his first three points of the weekend for going on to secure Pole Position. In the E-Prix, he led for the first half and finally crossed the line in the third position to take his second Formula E career podium. His team-mate Alexander Sims was hit on the first lap and was forced to camp due to accident damage.

Alex continued his impressive qualifying form on D-Day, collecting the first point of the day on setting the flag for the fastest lap in the group, solidifying his 7th super pole position. Gearing up third on the grid, Alex went on to execute the perfect race, bagging the victory at his home turf. This win proved big for Alex marking his maiden win in Formula E-racing and third podium, all in the same season with Mahindra Racing.

Coming from Alex Lynn, Driver, Mahindra Racing- “It’s hard to put my feelings in words, but to be honest, I can’t believe this has happened – it’s as special as it gets. Formula E has been an interesting journey for me, so winning it is unbelievably special. We had to make it happen today, and we did. I get the pleasure of driving the car, and I am thankful to the whole team; there’s not a group of guys and girls that doesn’t stay longer and wake up earlier than them, and I am thrilled for the whole team”.

The weekend’s victory has hauled Alex up to the sixth position in the driver’s standing, lagging behind the championship leader Nyck De Vries by 17 points. He is all set to play for the season finale in Berlin on 14-15 August.
