A company statement announced that Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz midsized sedan surpassed the three-lakh mark in the country. In the premium sedan segment, it becomes the quickest car to reach this milestone. According to Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki India, the Maruti Ciaz offers “the class-leading space, design, and sophistication”, and the new sales milestone proves the brand’s popularity among customers.
Maruti Ciaz was launched in 2014 with a 1.3L diesel engine rated at 89bhp and a 1.4L petrol engine rated at 91bhp. Due to the implementation of BS6 emission norms, the diesel model was discontinued in 2020, but the petrol model gets a BS6-compliant motor and Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid technology. As part of the model lineup, the carmaker has also introduced the Ciaz S variant.
The sedan is available in four trim levels – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – with prices ranging from Rs 8.71 lakh to Rs 11.70 lakh. A total of three automatic variants are available – Delta AT, Zeta AT and Alpha AT. These models cost Rs 10.55 lakh, Rs 11.14 lakh and Rs 11.70 lakh, respectively. Manual variants can be purchased between Rs 8.71 lakh and Rs 10.61 lakh. The prices mentioned above are all ex-showroom.
There are reports that the Indo-Japanese carmaker has developed a 1.5L diesel engine that complies with BS6. There will be an oil burner on the updated Ciaz sedan and the XL6 and Ertiga MPVs. Additionally, in the years to come, the company plans to increase the range of SUV models it offers. According to reports, Maruti Suzuki-Toyota will build a mid-size SUV to compete with Hyundai Creta. It will also build a crossover based on the Baleno and a seven-seater SUV.
