The much-hyped, all-new Tata Safari SUV is unwrapped today. The three-row SUV is the extended version of the current Tata Harrier SUV. Based on the OMEGA-ARC modular platform, the resurrected Safari moniker was first displayed as ‘Tata Gravitas’ at the Auto Expo 2002. The 2021 Tata Safari will be offered in six variants namely XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, and XZ+. The new flagship SUV from Tata Motors will be launched next month. Moreover, the bookings will open from 4 February. Expected to be priced in the bracket of Rs 17-23 lakh (ex-showroom), new Safari will drive new engines after its launch.
After its launch, the Tata Safari will feature a new blue shade among other colours and will be presented in dual-tone options. The 2.0L turbodiesel powertrain will blow out a 170hp and 350Nm. The powertrain will have the choices of manual as well as automatic transmission gearboxes. The Safari SUV will integrate different drive-modes to provide driving pleasure under varied conditions. The inside of the Safari sees the arrangement of captain seats at rear and bench set up in the third row.
In addition to the monocoque structure, the SUV employs Tata Motor’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy. Just like Tata Nexon and Tata Altroz, Safari receives a plethora of high on technology features alongside IRA connectivity. The cabin of the Safari will offer nine different seating modes to acquire maximum occupancy and help occupants carry more luggage. Some other expected equipment in the feature-list will comprise of wireless charging, electronic parking brake, auto hold function and many others borrowed from the Harrier.
From the visuals, the Signature Oyster White interior theme appears plush and pleasing, while the material and upholstery used inside the cabin bestow premiumness. After its official launch, the 2021 Safari will contend with the likes of Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector, MG Hector Plus 6-seater and MG Hector Plus 7-seater.
We expect the variant wise price announcement and launch by next week. Moreover, the deliveries of the 2021 Tata Safari will commence by mid-February 2021.
