Audi is geared up for a successful launch of Audi e-Tron electric SUV and the auto-major has taken one step further to achieve success by launching the e-Tron charging stations, thus aiming to facilitate the customers better.
Audi India has unveiled a range of charging options for buyers of the Audi e-Tron before the official launch of the vehicle next week. Each electric SUV will come with two chargers when it is purchased in 2021. A portable charger of 11kW will be on hand for customers to take with them, while a wall box charger will be installed without any added charge at the customer’s preferred location.
Early-bird customers will also be able to take advantage of complimentary charging at any Audi India dealership nationwide. There will be phased installation of 50kW fast chargers at select Audi India outlets. Audi Connect has an easy way to find charging stations nearby by browsing the ‘Chargers near me’ section on the mobile application. Electrified vehicle owners can also take advantage of these services.
There are three e-Tron trim levels available – the e-Tron 50, e-Tron 55, and e-Tron Sportback 55. There will be two AC/DC charging ports on both sides of all trims. The e-Tron 55, Sportback 55 and e-Tron 50 are all capable of charging with an 11kW AC charger. The e-Tron 55 and Sportback 55 can be charged with a 150kW DC charger.
Customers can also purchase curated ownership packages with the e-Tron from Audi. A variety of service plans are available, ranging from 2 to 5 years. Our customers can choose to have a comprehensive service plan that lasts either 4 years or 5 years. Besides the extended warranty, the comprehensive service plan includes the cost of service, periodic maintenance, and the cost of brakes and suspension. The E-Tron can be purchased with an Audi warranty package that includes a standard 2-year warranty and an 8-year warranty on the high-voltage battery, whichever comes first. Owners can also opt for an extended warranty of 2+2 years or 2+3 years.
Furthermore, the company offers a buyback program, which is characterized as best-in-class, in which customers have assured a lucrative buyback price when upgrading or selling their e-Tron within three years from purchase. Customers who purchase an e-Tron will also receive complimentary 5-year Road Side Assistance.
There are two electric motors on both sides of the e-Tron, one on each axle. The entry-level e-Tron 50 boasts a maximum power output of 313hp and torque of 540Nm, which is enough to complete the 0-100kph dash in a claimed 6.8 seconds. The 50 has a range of 264-379 km (WLTP combined), powered by a battery that produces 71kW.
The more powerful e-Tron 55 and e-Tron Sportback 55 do 0-100kph in just 5.7 seconds according to the manufacturer. A 95kW battery powers both variants, which have a combined range of 359-484 km (WLTP). The e-Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system distributes power evenly to all four wheels. AC charging is possible with both versions of the e-Tron, while DC charging can be achieved with the e-Tron 50 up to 120kW and the e-Tron 55 up to 150kW.
Price and Rivals:
Once it is launched in India, the Audi e-Tron is expected to compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace. The electric SUV will be sold as a standalone unit, so it is expected to be expensive. According to Audi, the e-Tron is expected to be priced at around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom, India), and Sportback versions will be slightly more expensive.
