There are a lot of 6-seater models that are available in the domestic market right now. Even the luxury brands are launching models that are meant to provide us with a thrilling driving experience. Kia Carens
Carens is the fourth launch from the South Korean Company in India. Kia offers Carens with 6 and 7-seater options and 5 different trim levels: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.
This 6-seater SUV is offered with three engine choices:
- 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
- 140hp 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine
- 115hp 1.5-litre diesel engine
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox that is offered as standard with all the engines while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines also get an automatic gearbox as an option.
The turbo-petrol can be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the diesel with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Tata Safari
Tata Safari is offered in six variants namely XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, and XZ+ and as both 6 and 7-seaters. Safari sports Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy and comes with a silver-finished grille and garnish around the headlamps. The new Safari has the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec turbodiesel as the Harrier that generates 170PS and 350Nm, paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It also comes equipped with features such as 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a panoramic sunroof, a semi-digital instrument cluster, six airbags, ESC, a rear parking camera, etc.

Hyundai Alcazar
Hyundai Alcazar is offered with a wide variety of trims and two engines and two transmission options. The petrol unit is a refined engine and has adequate power to cater to the highway as well as city duties with relative ease. Meanwhile, the diesel power unit produces lesser power in comparison and might feel a little duller than the petrol. Although, performance-wise, the petrol variants easily overtake the diesel variants of the Alcazar. Hyundai has packed Alcazar up to the gills with features such as the BlueLink system with 60+ features, OTA map update and voice recognition.

Maruti Suzuki XL6
Maruti Suzuki XL6 is basically the 6 seater version of Ertiga with all the bells and whistles. It is one of the more expensive cars from Maruti. Maruti Suzuki XL6 is a luxurious, comfortable, and attractive MPV, equipped with smart hybrid technology. It runs on the 1.5 L petrol engine generating a power of 105 PS with a mileage of 17 – 19 kmpl. XL6 has both manual and automatic gearboxes on offer. It is also equipped with captain chairs for the middle row passenger seat for an enhanced travel experience.

MG Hector Plus
As India’s first 6-seater and 7-seater 48 V hybrid, a combination of petrol and electric drive, MG’s Hector Plus ruled over the domestic SUV market when it was launched last year. It offers 60+ connected features, decent ride quality, and shares design and features with its sibling MG Hector with only minimal changes just enough to differentiate both.
The MG Hector Plus is offered with three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor with a hybrid system and a 2.0-litre diesel motor. The petrol engine is capable of producing 141bhp and 250Nm of torque and the diesel engine produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine comes mated to a DCT and CVT unit whereas the petrol hybrid and diesel engine come with a six-speed manual unit only.
