BMW X1 – Take a Look at Some of its Key Highlights

Take a look at some of the interesting highlights of the BMW X1 pertaining to comfort, performance, safety and design.

When it comes to entry-level luxury SUVs, BMW X1 is one of the most popular vehicles in India. It has made a name for itself globally as well but was popular in India due to the design and driving dynamics. The urban styling attracted youth and was sold in fairly large numbers. Moreover, it had the stance of a proper SUV which the Indian population is fond of and the trust related to the brand made it a success. The vehicle has been improved over the years but its rivals still remain the same, namely, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40.

BMW X1 Performance

The X1 has one diesel engine and one petrol engine on offer. Starting with the diesel, it is a 2.0-litre; 4-cylinder motor producing 187 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. These are some strong and respectable figures for an entry-level luxury SUV and the power delivery is fairly strong. Refinement levels are great too and this motor comes with an ARAI claimed mileage of 19.62kmpl. The petrol is also a 2.0-litre; 4-cylinder unit producing 189 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. There is very little difference in overall performance when compared with its counterpart but the refinement is slightly better with this engine. It comes with an ARAI claimed mileage of 14.82kmpl.

BMW X1 Interior and Exterior

The styling on this vehicle is a little aggressive and typical BMW-like. It has a large kidney grille at the front with BMW LED lasers. The interior is well laid out with quality materials used. Fit and finish levels are great considering this is a German SUV and everything is true to the BMW design language. Interior and exterior highlights of the X1 include:

  • Mood lighting in front and rear with 6 selectable light designs
  • Rain sensor and automatic driving lights
  • Panoramic sunroof with automatic sliding
  • Sun protection glazing
  • Micro-activated carbon particulate filter

X1 Interior

Along with a plush and premium interior, technology has to be present in abundance. Moreover, the iDrive system is one of the best in the business and the latest bits should be included in all the newer models. However, it misses out on Android Auto which is a bit disappointing. The worth-mentioning entertainment and connectivity features of the car are:

  • Wireless phone charging
  • 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay
  • iDrive touch controller
  • BMW apps
  • 7-inch TFT display for the instrument cluster
