The French carmaker has teased the world for the first time about its upcoming subcompact SUV. It will be revealed on September 16 globally. The new SUV will compete with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Citroen’s second car in the country could be called the C3 and will be the brand’s second offering.
The SUV will come equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and both manual and automatic transmissions are expected to be offered. There isn’t much known yet about this upcoming SUV, despite the numerous spy shots of test mules. The vehicle is expected to come with features such as an automatic air conditioner, an LCD touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a premium sound system, connected technology, multiple airbags, and electronic stability control.
Citroen’s SUV has a distinctive styling that replicates the company’s other models. It has a split headlight arrangement, a grille with a large opening, body cladding with coloured accents, and the twin chevron Citroen logo, all of which are reminiscent of the larger C5 Aircross SUV.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Citroen had originally intended to launch the subcompact SUV by Diwali. However, Citroen has now delayed the launch to early 2022. As a result of the pandemic, the launch date of the C5 Aircross also changed. We expect Citroen’s smaller SUV to launch in early 2022, with a price starting at Rs 7 lakh.
