S Diesel 1.5-litre Diesel 5-Speed M 98 200

S CVT Petrol 1.2-litre Petrol CVT 88 110
VX Petrol 1.2-litre Petrol 5-Speed M 88 110
VX CVT Petrol 1.2-litre Petrol CVT 88 110

Honda Amaze comes with two engine options, a petrol and a diesel, both of which are powerful engines. The NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) level of the diesel is on the higher side and the petrol is a refined unit. Both these engines perform well in the city and on the highway and are versatile in nature. However, the VX CVT Diesel trim is low on power for some reason and the performance might feel a little lethargic when compared to its counterparts.

Price List

Variants Price (ex-showroom)
E Diesel Rs 8.66 Lakhs
S Diesel Rs 9.26 Lakhs
VX Diesel Rs 10.25 Lakhs
VX CVT Diesel Rs 11.15 Lakhs
E Petrol Rs 6.32 Lakhs
S Petrol Rs 7.16 Lakhs
S CVT Petrol Rs 8.06 Lakhs
VX Petrol Rs 8.22 Lakhs
VX CVT Petrol Rs 9.05 Lakhs

The pricing for the Honda Amaze has been done in such a way, that it undercuts competition with ease and it has been successful in doing that. Some premium hatchbacks cost higher than this and this is what makes the Amaze an enticing option to choose. There is a big enough price bracket to choose from and a potential buyer will find a variant without any hitch.

As one can derive from the above table, there is sufficient safety kit available when it comes to the Honda Amaze. However, the base variants miss out on something as common as central locking and power door locks which should be included in every variant. Apart from this, it is good to see that Honda has included ISOFIX child seat mounts in every variant which is good. Overall, the vehicle is equipped with all the necessary safety features.

Looking at the table, one can derive that there are plenty of comfort and convenience features on offer for the Honda Amaze. The list is in line with the rivals but the base variants miss out on everything except parking sensors. Honda should have included some features in the base variants so that people with a budget constraint can consider purchasing the vehicle. Ignoring this aspect, Honda Amaze is well-equipped with all the bells and whistles one would expect at this price point.

There are just about adequate interior and connectivity features present inside the Honda Amaze. But it misses out on leather upholstery and leather wrap gear selector which could have been included in the top trims. Moreover, the base variants again miss out on everything which might be a deal-breaker for some people.

Conclusion

Honda Amaze is a compact sedan which has two perfectly capable powertrains, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.2-litre petrol. Both the engines are good city and highway performers making them versatile in nature. However, the diesel has higher NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels but it is well-contained inside the cabin. After considering all the departments, the most value for money variants would turn out to be S and S CVT for both, diesel and petrol. These trims get all the required features at a reasonable price.
