Hyundai Alcazar Review – Is it a Revamped Creta with 7 seats or More?

As part of Hyundai’s mid-spec Platinum (O) trim, the company has launched a seven-seater variant of the Alcazar SUV at a price of Rs 19.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai has left out the seven-seater configuration option for its petrol variant of the Alcazar, only offering it on the diesel-powered Platinum (O).

Platinum (O) trim has a new bench seating arrangement, where (O) refers to an automatic model. There is only one auto out there that offers the flexibility of six or seven-seat configurations at a price that is Rs 15,000 lower than that of the Platinum (O) with six seats.

This new seven-seater trim comes with all the standard equipment offered in the Platinum (O) trim. The car includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system, 360-degree camera, among other features.

The Alcazar Platinum (O) does not have the central console mounted on the floor that holds the wireless charger, cup-holders, and storage bin like in the six-seater model.

The Alcazar’s 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 115HP and 250Nm and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Alcazar price list summarizes its variation and seating configuration:

Rivals:

Hyundai Alcazar rivals the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus in terms of powertrain and design. With a price of Rs 20.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) as opposed to the Alcazar’s Rs 25.55 lakh, Tata Safari has a similar seven-seater XTA+ trim. There’s also a diesel-AT powertrain available on the Safari, albeit it’s less well-equipped than the Hyundai.

A manual transmission is not available on the MG Hector Plus diesel. It is also possible to opt for the second-from-top Hector Plus Select trim, which is priced at Rs 19.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and has a seven-seater layout. Only six seats are available on the Hector Plus Sharp. A lot of features are lacking in the Alcazar Platinum (O), even the Hector Plus Select.
