To be labelled within the Rs 10-17 lakh (ex-showroom) price range, Hyundai Creta 2020 will share Kia Seltos powertrain.
The second-generation Hyundai Creta is all set for an official launch on the 17th of next month. The contemporary-looking SUV is adorned with restyled exteriors as well as interiors and features BSVI compliant engine choices under the hood. Launch reports suggest that Hyundai India will tag the new Creta with an onward price of Rs 10 lakh (approx) for the base trim, which will go up to Rs 17 lakh (approx) for the top of the line trim. Both prices are of ex-showroom, India.
Although no details are out on the variant-wise prices, however the engine and component sharing from Kia Seltos is evident. Once launched, 2020 Creta will lock horns with the likes of Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Kia Seltos in its segment.
The revolutionary exterior design language makes Creta stand out instantaneously among its rivals. At front, it features 3D cascading grille and split-headlamp setup with LED and day time running lights, while the new bumper and faux skid complete its sophisticated yet mature stance. The Creta rear sees split tail lamp cluster, new bumper line and a faux skid plate. Moreover, the side profile gets unusually squared-out wheel arches for that mannish feel, whilst the dual-tone alloy wheels appear sturdy and stylish.
Information on the cabin layout out has not been made public by the South Korean carmaker. However, looking at the interiors of the Creta displayed at the Auto Expo, one can say that it will hold distinct theme against Hyundai iX25 (China-spec model), as speculated in the media reports prior to the unveiling. The elements that are expected to be borrowed from it include a large dash-mounted 10-inch touchscreen, central AC, BlueLink connected-car tech, wireless charging, air purifier, ambient lighting, auto climate control, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and others.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will probably share the powertrain and transmission choices with the Kia Seltos. In that case, the 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol will be seen powering different trims of the new Creta. All three motors will be mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission options.
There is no official word on the booking part, but as per reliable sources, Hyundai dealerships have started the pre-bookings for the new Creta. Some dealers in metro cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru have started to pre-book the upcoming SUV at a sum ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000, which varies from showroom to showroom.
