- Kia sold 10,488 units of the Seltos, 5443 units of the Sonet and 400 units of the Carnival last month
- Kia’s wholesale numbers endured a drop of 22% with 16,331 units in October 2021
- This year, Seltos crossed the two lakh milestone, while the Sonet achieved the one lakh sales mark
Led by the sales of Seltos, Kia India achieved a steady performance in 2021 despite the ongoing production halt in the auto industry. Kia Seltos remains the highest-selling SUV for the month, contributing 10,488 units to Kia’s total sales, while the Sonet and the Carnival contributed 5,443 and 400 units respectively.
In October, Kia India saw total sales of 16,331 units which is actually a decline from the carmaker’s reports from the same month last year. Even with its 22 percent decline during a continuing chip shortage crisis, Kia seems to have fared well with its success with its top seller, Seltos.
2021 is the year of milestones for Kia with its Seltos reaching a two lakh sale mark and Sonet with its one lakh sold units. Furthermore, the company sold 159,641 units between January and October this year leading their cumulative sales across the 1.5 lakh mark in CY2021. This is a 48 percent growth when compared to CY2020.
Tae-Jin Park, MD & CEO, Kia India said, “The adverse supply chain situation has been an opportunity lost for us; however, our customers’ and vendors’ continuous support has enabled us to maintain a healthy performance throughout the year.
As we foresee the issue to continue for the next few months, we assure our customers to keep optimizing our production to the maximum level and ensure delivery at the earliest. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to take the necessary steps as and when required.”
Kia India also commented that the company will continue to keep the waiting period for its vehicles minimum during these times of constraints.
