For Kia Motors, major sales come from the Seltos SUV.
The South Korean automaker has broken the records for a new entrant to reach 1 lakh sales in India. It debuted in August last year with its SUV, the Kia Seltos. Later, the automaker launched its premium MPV – the Carnival. Although the products offered by Kia are good, the assistance from its sister concern Hyundai has, indeed, a role to play in this magnificent performance.
MD and CEO Kookhyun Shim, Kia Motors India said that the year 2019 marked an important year for Kia as they introduced their first car for the Indian market with an aim to become a household name in the country. They are overwhelmed with the response and acceptance that Indian customers have shown towards them, he said. Going further, Shim stated that reaching the 1-lakh milestone with just two products in record 11-month time is a testament to the company’s commitment to India.
The choice of segments and positioning of cars in India has been spot on by Kia. It did its homework well and leveraged the two decades of experience of Hyundai to nail the competition in the country.
Delighted with the response, Shim said, that this day marks a proud moment for all of them at Kia Motors India and after the immense success of Seltos and Carnival, they are confident to keep up the positive momentum and lead the Indian automobile industry by addressing the unmet needs and aspirations of the customers with the upcoming Kia Sonet.
The Hyundai-subsidiary would be soon doing the global unveil of the Kia Sonet SUV. The subcompact SUV will be unwrapped on August 7 followed by the launch in September. It will compete against the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
