Korean carmaker Kia has revealed a short teaser for its upcoming SUV in the US market. While Kia has not unleashed the name yet, it is widely trusted to be the new generation Sportage SUV from the image.

Kia has confirmed that an “all-new, boldly designed and highly fabricated SUV” will make its arrival in the US on October 27. The bookings are expected to commence from early next year.

Kia has said that the new Sportage SUV will arrive with a wide range of powerful and efficient engines. The carmaker has also promised that the SUV will be made available in both the front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. Alike from that, the 2022 Sportage SUV is likely to get “multiple standard advanced driver assistance systems and high standard infotainment options.”

Kia also looks up to carry traits that will garner enough interest among those who are enthusiasts for the Sportage SUV. The brand new Kia Sportage is anticipated to have a new level of off-road capability with increased ground clearance and all-terrain tires.

The 5th generation Sportage SUV is going to be built on Kia’s N3 platform. It is the same platform where it underpins a few of its Korean sibling Hyundai models like Tucson, Santa, Sonata Fe along with Kia models like K5 and Sorento.

As far as the specifications, Kia Sportage will continue to wear a bold front face with the tiger-nose grille. It is edged by boomerang-shaped LED units. The cabin of the new generation Kia Sportage will draw few influences from the EV6.

Kia Sportage is expected to come with both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions for the first time. The Sportage SUV is likely to feature the same 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder engine that powers the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sorento or Santa Fe. The engine would transmit power from an electric motor linked to the lithium-ion battery pack and, is expected to be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Hybrid powertrain is expected to generate around 277 hp of power. Thus, the plug-in hybrid model produces 261hp of power.
