Mahindra Pavilion gets electrified as the flamboyant roadster – Mahindra Funster EV – zooms in with style at the 2020 Auto Expo. The very distinctive vehicle with an electric motor has been designed to bestow sporty performance with zero emissions. The creative yet bold design engineering work on the EV concept will also witness on the future cars by Mahindra, especially the future Mahindra XUV500. The showstopper concept is claimed to offer a whopping range of 520km per charge with its dual electric motor and AWD mechanism.

The company also claims that the Mahindra Funster is capable of attaining a 0-100kmph in just 5 seconds. The drop-top roadster with uber-cool exterior design and futuristic EV elements is one of the four much-awaited EVs by the UV maker at the Indian Auto Expo. The Funster electric concept packs a 59.1kWh battery pack that can go up to 520 km range on a single charge. Sporting a dual electric motor it can achieve a high power performance of 313PS. What’s more, with its capable AWD setup it is claimed to possess a top speed of 200kmph.

With body design previewing the next iteration of Mahindra XUV500, Funster EV gets tri-beam LED headlamp setup with sharp edges and fog lamp trio on the bumpers. The sporty looking fascia comes with illuminated toothed Mahindra grille. The EV with 2+2 seating layout and 3-door concept provide some glimpses of the Evoque Convertible. Mahindra has left no stone unturned in making the Funster look true sports roadster, as it features scissor doors and character lines flowing on the side profile and ending at the rear.

As per the sources, this will be the future of design for Mahindra SUVs in India. Mahindra Funster EV may not go into the production, but the design quotient will be seen in the 2021 all-electric Mahindra XUV500. After its launch, the XUV500 EV will compete against the likes of Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG ZS EV in its segment and will be priced under Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
