The millennial car, 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets more features with an added bling.
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the facelift version of its Ignis in India at the Auto Expo 2020. The city car with quirky design elements gets new front bumper, fog lamp housing and grille. There are no changes to its mechanicals and will be offered in BS6 compliant petrol version. The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis 2020 will be available in 4 trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. When launched, the Japanese carmaker will continue to retail the new Ignis from its premium Nexa dealerships.
Engine and Specs
The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis 2020 continues to be offered with a single engine option. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is BS6 compliant now and offers a maximum output of 61kW at 6000rpm and max torque of 113Nm at 4200rpm. It is available with both the manual as well as AMT option.
The most visible differentiator in the new Ignis is the U-shaped chrome inserts (inspired by the Maruti Vitara Brezza). Other notable changes include redesigned bumpers with faux skid plates at the front as well as the rear. The Japanese carmaker has tried to give it a rugged look with the addition of skid plates. The side profile continues to be least inspiring with no changes to its earlier bland design.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis 2020 features more or less similar cabin layout as its last version. However, the 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto looks fresh. As dimensions of the new Ignis continue to be the same, there is no change in the cabin space which retains space strictly for two occupants at the rear.
Comfort and convenient features
The updated Maruti Ignis continues to offer a premium yet practical features. It gets push button start/stop, remote keyless entry, auto AC, electronic folding ORVM, power-adjustable ORVMs, night/day IRVM, 60:40 split rear seats, height-adjustable driver seat, all four power windows, tilt steering, steering mounted audio controls and puddle lamps.
Like its predecessor, the Ignis 2020 features dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seat-belt pre-tensioners with force limiters, pedestrian protection compliance, rear parking camera, rear parking sensors, speed sensing auto door locks and others.
The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis 2020 revokes its rivalry with Mahindra KUV100, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Wagon R.
