What all has changed in the newly launched Maruti Wagon R Xtra Edition? Here’re the details.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been a very popular hatchback for decades. It comes with a boxy design which makes the vehicle spacious and distinctive looking. It got a total revamp a few years ago streamlining it with the current design language of Maruti Suzuki. The limited-edition version of the Wagon R has been launched, called the Xtra Edition. This will feature cosmetic changes to the VXi variant increasing the price by Rs. 23,000.
Here’re the vital changes that you must know about the newly launched Maruti Wagon R Xtra Edition.
Changes to the Exterior
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes with a tall-boy design which is distinct among the budget hatchbacks. The boxy design opens up space inside the vehicle, however, hampers the driving dynamics to some extent. The Xtra Edition will get some cosmetic enhancements which will help it stand-out from the regular Wagon R. The changes include front and rear bumper protectors, side skirts, wheel arch cladding, bodyside mouldings and chrome garnish for the front grille, back door and number plate.
Changes to the Interior
There are subtle changes in the interior department as well. The Xtra Edition will get all the standard features which the regular Wagon R VXi is equipped with. The list includes split-folding rear seats, tilt-adjustable steering, remote locking, 2-DIN infotainment system and power-adjustable wing mirrors. The company is also providing an “interior styling kit”, along with an air inflator, trunk organizer and car charge extender. The company has said that these accessories will be fitted to the VXi models at the dealer level.
Safety and Powertrain
Just like the interior, the Xtra Edition will get all the standard safety features. It will be equipped with ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder and a driver airbag. A passenger airbag for the co-driver is only available if one opts for the VXi(O) variant. The Xtra Edition will be available with two engine options. Starting with the 1.0-litre petrol engine which dishes out 68 bhp and 90 nm of torque and the second option being, the 1.2-litre petrol engine which produces 82 bhp and 113 nm of torque. Both of these engines are paired with a 5-speed MT or 5-speed AMT.
The VXi variant of the hatchback is priced at Rs 5.13-6.06 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), with the additional kit taking up the price by another Rs 23,000 on the special edition. The complete WagonR line-up extends from the 1.0 LXi priced at Rs 4.81 Lakhs, to the 1.2 ZXi AMT priced at Rs 6.33 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). As such, the model rivals other budget hatchbacks like the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.
