On 11th of October 2021, India will witness the launch of the brand new futuristic AI fitted SUV, MG Astor. This high-tech Astor is the brand’s first midsize SUV offering ADAS.
Packed with some really cool features, Astor is expected to satisfy every tech crazed kid and adult on the block with its amazing AI assistant that is programmed to display gifs, tell jokes, access Wikipedia and understand quite a number of Hinglish commands, all the while assisting you in driving.
Astor boasts 14 autonomous, first-segment features that range from Lane Functions, Rear Drive Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control to Intelligent Head Lamp Control.
At the first glance, Astor does not fail to impress us with its signature striking, sporty contours. Its bold, celestial grilles and full LED Hawkeye Headlamps accentuate the athleticism of the SUV.
Once you get past the attractive exteriors, the opulence specified in the interiors is what really takes the crown. The cabin is designed with both design and comfort in mind, with its dual-tone Sangria Red theme and rich leather layered interiors. Seats have a 6-way power adjustment and in the back, 60:40 split rear seats.
The Autonomous level-2 features make safety and control as priorities along with high-end cameras and radar system. This aggressive-looking SUV is fitted with a 25.7 cm HD touchscreen that supports a Jio e-SIM, Electronic Power Steering with 3 adjustable modes (Normal, Urban and Dynamic), a panoramic sky roof and rain-sensing wipers.
Astor is also going to be available with 2 engine variants:
- VTi-Tech – MG will offer a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre, 120hp, 150Nm engine under the hood mated to a CVT transmission.
- 220Turbo – It will power Astor with an engine of 163hp, 230Nm, and 1.3 litres of capacity in combination with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
- Spiced Orange
- Aurora Silver
- Glaze Red
- Candy White
- Starry Black
Astor looks like it is going to provide a healthy competition to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, in addition to Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
