MG Hector Plus Launch

Based on the five-seat Hector, the Hector Plus barely showcases any difference in exterior styling except for minor tweaks at the front fascia. The SUV gets redesigned glossy black grille, new bumpers, LED DRLs and redesigned headlamps. Moreover, restyled side indicators, tail lamps and skid plates also enhance its appeal.

The MG Hector Plus comes in six different shades including Glaze Red, Candy White, Aurora Silver, Starry Sky Blue, Burgundy Red and Starry Black.

MG Hector Plus is available in three engine choices borrowed from the five-seat Hector – a 2.0-litre diesel with 6-speed manual, 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 6-speed manual/DCT auto and 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 48V mild-hybrid system linked to 6-speed manual transmission.

The major difference is, of course, the extra middle row with captain seats. Another differentiator between the two is the tan brown leatherette upholstery as opposed to the Hector’s all-black theme. In future, MG plans to introduce a 7-seat version of the Hector.

The MG Hector Plus offers similar features as available in the five-seat version. It gets a panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps and DRLs, powered front seats, infinity audio system, steering mounted controls, ambient lighting and heated wing mirrors. It also gets a 10.4-inch touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with connected vehicle tech.

In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, 360-degree camera, hill-hold assist, ABS, traction control, ESC, front and rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Hector Plus competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV 500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas along with lower variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta.
