French automaker, Citroen will launch its next product, the C21 compact SUV in the Indian auto market in 2022. The preparations are in full swing for the mass production of the cars. The automaker is oiling up its sales and services network too. Reports say that the C21 code-named model will be made in India and will be supremely localized.
Likely to be called the Citroen C3 Sporty, the new SUV saw an early reveal recently. The beautiful model was also caught running test drives multiple times on the Indian roads. Let’s take a look at all the specifications and features that we have rounded up to quench your curiosity.
The new model will be a part of Citroen’s new ‘C-Cubed’ plan – Cool, Comfort and Clever. The C21 will be the first model of the multi-model program. This program will cater to cars built for emerging markets like India and South America and the likes.
As per the plan, the C-Cubed cars will be underpinned by the new Common Modular Platform (CMP). This architecture is already in use by multiple Peugeot models overseas. It’s also rumored to underpin a made-in-India sub-4m Jeep product in the future.
The SUV will run on a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 130bhp of power. The compact SUV could get a 99bhp/150Nm capable engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new C3 compact SUV could be the first model in India to feature a flex-fuel system, which will feature a 1.2-liter petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel. According to sources, the SUV will not come with a Diesel engine variant.
The C3’s 1.2 turbo-petrol engine and the sub-4m length will help it avail tax benefits. With updated & unique features, Citroen C3 is ready to take on rival compact SUVs in the Indian market.
The new Citroen C3 will showcase the trademark quirky design language of its native company. Bless the extremely unique design features that will help it in standing out of the rat race.
It features a boxy stance with the signature chromed grille, split-LED headlamps, and wrap-around tail lamps. The shell also shows an absence of a sunroof, no shark fin antenna, and also no rear wiper. It showcases flap-type door handles instead of pull-types. The model uses Pseudo-Alloy wheels, which are becoming increasingly common among its competitors.
Inside the cabin, the Citroen C3 compact SUV flaunts a multi-functional steering wheel, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, push-button start/stop system, cruise control, automatic AC, digital instrument console, reverse camera, rear AC vents, etc.
The new Citroen C3 is expected to go head-to-head with other ambitious compact SUVs of its range. These include the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and, Vitara Brezza.
