The Czech automaker has announced that the new Skoda Rapid will be launched specially for Indian customers later this year with new features. It will be larger than the existing Skoda Rapid.
Skoda India has declared that instead of launching a facelift model of Skoda Rapid, it will launch a mid-size premium sedan, replacing the current Skoda Rapid. The new-generation Skoda Rapid has been worked upon, and it will compete against the new Honda City and Hyundai Verna when it is launched.
Skoda Rapid will be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform. The new Skoda Rapid will not be launched this year but will be unveiled by the end of this year in India, and it has been spied testing in various regions in India. Let’s find out what changes we can expect in the upcoming Skoda Rapid.
What can we expect in terms of dimensions and styling from the new Skoda Rapid?
The Skoda Rapid replacement is very likely to quantify around 4,480 mm in length, which makes it larger than the current-generation Skoda Rapid (4,413mm) with a significant amount. The next-gen Rapid is anticipated to have the maximum wheelbase (2,651mm) in the segment once it launches. The wheelbase must translate into lots of legroom for passengers to actually stretch, and since the new Rapid is also 50 mm wider, so the cabin will be probably felt roomier overall. Someone asked in his tweet if Skoda will bring the new creation Fabia hatchback into India; he said the carmaker does not have any such plans yet because it stays busy for the launching of Kushaq SUV this weekend, and a brand new sedan afterwards in 2021”.
Hollis also stated that the current Skoda Rapid may exit on the line as the company is deciding on its farewell from India. On the other hand, the carmaker may introduce the new-gen Skoda Rapid with a CNG option for Indian buyers, sooner after its introduction in the market.
