Porsche’s First All-Electric Taycan Overview

Porsche’s new Taycan is the first-ever all-electric vehicle in its portfolio. For a company known for its luxury sports builds, November 12th, 2021 marked a new milestone with the launch of the pure electric Taycan.

With a starting price of Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom) and going up to Rs 2.31 crore, Taycan comes in 8 different variants.

Taycan is already a success in the global markets with its launch in select few countries in September 2019, where it sold a total of 26,840 units within 9 months of its launch. The introduction into the Indian market that was previously scheduled to be in 2020 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Porsche Taycan Dimensions

The Taycan sedan measures 4,963mm in length and has a 2,900mm wheelbase while, the Cross Turismo measures 4,974mm with a 2,904mm wheelbase.

Porsche Taycan Exterior Design

Taycan comes with an extremely flat bonnet design, resulting in pronounced wings that are typical of Porsche. Lateral air intakes ahead of the front wheels, called the air curtains, also improve the aerodynamics. It also has four-point LED main headlights with matrix beam, automatically extending door handles, two roof options – the contoured variant made of lightweight aluminium with an indentation in the middle and a panoramic fixed glass roof that provides an open, airy feeling.

There is a seamless light strip and ‘PORSCHE’ logo in the rear and above is the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) in the form of a three-stage rear spoiler system.

Also as there is no exhaust system, it creates space for a rear diffuser with a sporty, slatted design.

Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Exterior Design

The Cross Turismo has distinct wheel arch mouldings and unique wheel designs along with front and rear aprons and side skirts. It has 20mm more ground clearance than the Taycan, and its optional off-road design package provides an extra 10mm of ground clearance at the middle chassis level and integrated off-road design flaps.

A weight-dependent damping system ensures smooth folding, thus convenient access to the boot. Additionally present is an optional rear-mounted bike carrier.

Porsche Taycan Interior Design

The Taycan’s interiors are sporty, minimalist and clear with the wing extending from the centre console appearing to be floating. Porsche offers options like the sustainably treated OLEA club leather and a 4+1 seating configuration.

Porsche Cross Turismo Interior Design

It has an optional integrated compass on the dashboard and offers a comfortable travel experience and plenty of space, with flexible storage areas. The front luggage compartment is complemented by an enlarged rear boot, which can be extended from 446 litres to a total of 1,212 litres when the rear seat backrests are folded down.
