Following the Fortuner Legender 4×2 launched in January 2021, its 4×4 variant is now open for bookings across India. Priced at 42.33 lakh (ex-showroom), it may yet be the most expensive of all its contemporary models.
A 3.72 lakh rupees increase in cost from its 4×2 version compensates for it, with some exclusive added features. This sure foresees the on-road price in several cities to reach around Rs 50 lakhs.
A four-wheel-drive system that brings the Legender out onto the off roads with front and rear locking differentials, downhill assist, and a number of safety features such as seven airbags, hill start assist, traction control, Anti-lock Braking System with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control etc.
The same BS6 compliant 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine powers Legender 4×4, along with a 6-speed automatic gearbox only.
In and out of the 4×4:
The exteriors wear a Catamaran style front and rear bumpers with Sequential Turn Indicators and sleek radiator grilles in Piano Black. The Fortuner Legender 4×4 is available only in Pearl white with a black roof and dual-colour tones of Maroon and Black.
For those who are looking for luxury along with increased performance in their SUVs, Toyota has kitted out Legender 4×4 with dual-tone interiors, kick sensors for power back doors, contrast stitching for console box and steering wheel, rear USB ports, and wireless charging.
The cabin looks like the 4×2 supplemented with the 11-speaker JBL audio system. The rest of the features stays identical to the 4×2 like the 18-inch multi-layered machine-cut finished alloys, split quad-LED lamps with waterfall LED line guide signature.
The remainder of the equipment list is unchanged from the Legender 4×2 with kit including 18-inch alloys, quad-LED headlamps, sequential turn indicators, powered tailgate with hands-free opening, 8.0-inch touchscreen, connected car tech, wireless phone charger and more.
Fortuner’s rivals, including the MG Gloster at Rs 35.15 lakh and Isuzu MU-X at Rs 33.38 lakh, sport a huge difference in their price margins leaving the Legender 4×4 with an almost 10-15 lakh surge.
