Let’s take a deeper dive to look at the extensive details about the new Range Rover Evoque 2021.
The Evoque has been around for quite some time in the Indian market and has made a loyal customer base in these years. The older models had a lot of discrepancies and shortcomings but still managed to become popular, largely because of its design and driving capabilities. Land Rover has updated the Evoque drastically and it has overcome a lot of its discrepancies making it even more attractive. Let’s look at some of the important details about the Range Rover Evoque 2021.
With other cars in the Land Rover lineup targeting different types of consumers, the market for the Evoque is large in India and it is vital for Land Rover to fulfill the expectations of people if they want to maintain this level of supremacy and hold on the market.
The older versions of the Evoque had a striking design which attracted the youth. It had a bold and rugged look with a macho appeal to it. The Range Rover Evoque 2021 has been tweaked on the exterior and now looks a lot more mature up front and portrays a sense of plushness and luxury. The design has become refined with sharp headlights and taillights with a futuristic appeal to it. It also resembles the Range Rover Velar and some people may call it the ‘Mini Velar’. The pop out door handles are a quirky touch which people will enjoy having in their car.
From the sides, the Evoque looks clean with the pop out door handles tucked in. The character lines beneath the door handles make it look fresh and the big wheel arches portray a macho appeal. The bold rims complement and enhance the entire look and feel of the car. The rear of the car looks modern and has many elements which are similar to the Velar. The taillights look gorgeous along with the gloss black diffuser below. The Range Rover badging sits boldly in the middle making the car look handsome and mature.
Interior and Features
The same theme of luxury and plushness continues inside the interior as well. The interior looks and feels premium with a futuristic touch to it. The cabin feels solidly built with soft touch materials in plenty giving the cabin a cohesive feel. The front seats are power adjustable and offer great cushioning and support aiding comfort for those long journeys. The front seats are ventilated adding to that extra touch of comfort.
Land Rover has done a fantastic job while equipping this car with features. The feature list on this car is pretty extensive and you get all the bells and whistles you can expect at this price point. The talking point is the new 10-inch infotainment screen known as the ‘Pivi Pro’. It has a new interface which is slick to use and is a high-resolution display. It gets the connected car tech and the functionality of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An all-new 12.3-inch driver interactive display has the functionality of full-screen 3D navigation with a Heads Up Display as well. It is a high-resolution display which houses all the relevant information you require.
Another useful feature is the Clear Sight Technology. The Clear Sight Ground View technology helps you to effectively see through the bonnet and display multiple exterior views, including vehicle’s underside and wheels as you drive. On the other hand, the Clear Sight Interior Rear View Mirror provides an unobstructed view of the road behind you, regardless of rear seat passengers or objects in the load space.
Other features include a 3D surround camera, wireless charging, Nanoe Air Purification System and another quirky feature being that when the occupant is inside the car, the phone will use the antenna of the car to make phone calls for better reception. These quirky features make the Evoque ready for competition.
Performance and Ride Quality
The Range Rover Evoque 2021 comes with two capable engine options. A 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine which produces 150 bhp and 430 nm of torque and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which produces 184 bhp and 365 nm of torque. Both of these powertrain options are supremely capable and both motors are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. These engines will never make the car feel underpowered out on the road with the turbo petrol having brisk performance and a refined drive.
The Evoque has a stiff suspension which makes it feel composed at higher speeds but the sharper bumps can filter through to the cabin at lower speeds. The stiff suspension translates into the Evoque being a sporty handler and tucks itself seamlessly into corners. The Evoque is still an agile and eager car to drive nonetheless. The Terrain Response 2 System works pretty well to make the car adapt to the different road conditions and drive accordingly.
Coming to the rear seat, even with the increase in dimensions, the space is not as impressive. The is not enough space for three people at the back and under thigh support is lacking. Taller passengers might have a problem with head room too. However, Evoque owners spend most of their time in the driving seat but Land Rover could’ve done a bit better in the rear seat department.
The Range Rover Evoque 2021 is equipped with a host of safety features, including, 3D surround camera with park assist, Clear Sight Technology, ISOFIX child seat mounts and six airbags including driver, passenger, side curtain and thorax airbags.
