The advanced turbo-petrol powertrain will be launched in August-end and will churn out best-in-class power and torque outputs.
A powerful engine of Renault Duster, the 1.3L Turbo Petrol, is all set for its India launch this month. Codenamed as HR13 the engine made its official debut at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year. The advanced turbo charged petrol engine will be seen churning out a handsome 156 hp of power and peppy 250 Nm of torque. The new engine choice is expected to be added to the current Duster portfolio in the country without disturbing the ongoing 1.5L petrol engine with manual transmission in the lower variants. The powerful petrol variant will be priced between Rs 11-13 lakh (ex-showroom).
After its launch, the 1.3L Turbo Petrol will find itself among most powerful mid-size SUVs in the country. Expected to be made available with the top-spec RXZ trim, the mid size SUV will not feature any major amends on the exterior part. However interiors may receive additional attributes such as automatic climate control, cruise control, stop/start button, cabin pre-cooling via remote, hill-start assist, an 8-inch touch display, and others. A chunky 17-inch alloy wheel set is also anticipated to join the newly decorated RXZ trim.
Coming to the engine it will be offered with a choice of 6-speed MT and a CVT AT gearbox. It’s the similar engine that has been performing its duties on the Nissan Kicks turbo petrol variant. Moreover the other engine that is 1.5L BS6 (106 hp) naturally aspirated petrol engine will continue to function under the bonnet of the lower trims and with MT choice. With this engine it will take on the new-gen SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos and others.
Due to high voltage competition in the segment with Creta and Seltos, Duster will offer maximum value for money in terms of cabin features and price tag. In addition to this, the French carmaker is also preparing its compact SUV Renault Kiger for an October 2020 launch in India.
