Skoda Rapid New Matte Edition Launched in India

Skoda Auto has launched the limited-run model of Rapid, the Matte Edition on the 4th of October, with just 400 units for sale. First introduced at the 2020 Auto expo as the Rapid Matte Concept, the Rapid Matte Edition is now being sold at a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh.

  • This is only the second car after Kia Seltos X-line, to be available in Matte finish straight from the factory.
  • The Rapid Matte Edition is similar to the standard car of its model technically.

  • It comes at Rs 11.99 lakh for the manual version and at Rs 13.49 lakh for the automatic version.

Exterior design:

The new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition can be described as nothing but futuristic and almost fictitious in its aesthetics.

It is sporty and suave, with its carbon steel matte grey finish with glossy black finish for the grille surround, lip spoiler on the front bumper, door handles, side body moulding, alloy wheels and rear diffuser, tailgate spoiler and trunk lip garnish.

This limited edition also gets powerful quartz cut headlights for better night visibility.


Dual-tone theme of Tellure Grey and Black in the interiors is designed to charm us, not just on the outside with its conscious style. The Alcantara seats sporting black leatherette upholstery adorn the cabin, along with an 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system.

It is also equipped with cruise control, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, hill hold control and 4 air bags for safety.


The Matte Edition is powered by the same 1-litre TSI 81 kW Petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmissions.

The manual version costs Rs 11.99 lakh while the automatic version is at Rs 13.49 lakh.

The trendy looking Rapid Matte Edition will only be available in dealerships till the stock of 400 units last. It is going to continue its run against the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, VW Vento and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The upcoming Slavia is expected to be unveiled in India, later this year or early next year and will be Matte Edition’s successor along with the re-introduced facelift of Kodiaq SUV.
