The EV charging service provider Fortum and MG Motor India had announced their partnership in 2019. To date, the car manufacturer has built a network of 11 DC charging stations in cooperation with Fortum.
A 50 kW Superfast charging station for electric vehicles in Pune has been installed by MG Motor India and Fortum Charge & Drive India. Anyone who has an electric vehicle compatible with the CCS2 (Combined Charging System) can access the smart chargers by registering on Fortum’s website or a mobile app. Forum, a provider of EV charging services, and MG Motor India announced a partnership in 2019. Since then, the carmaker and Fortum have built a network of 11 DC chargers across – NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.
It was stated that Fortum superfast charging stations can charge the ZS EV from zero to 80 per cent in 50 minutes. Among the charging options offered with the ZS EV are a free fast-charging AC adapter (installed at home/office), a plug-and-charge cable onboard, and charge while on the go with RSA (Roadside Assistance). Additionally, it has extended the charging network in select satellite cities.
A move to phase in the availability of the ZS EV in more cities will help achieve sustainability goals. According to Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India, the ZS EV will now be available across 37 Indian cities in 2021 following the ZS EV’s launch in 6 additional cities in 2021.
The Fortum Charge & Drive network allows EV users to travel between Mumbai and Pune without worrying about range anxiety, noted Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Vice President, Fortum Charge & Drive India.
In related news, MG Motor India recently relaunched its ‘MG CARE at Home’ program. According to the company, the program was brought back due to customer demands. Under the initiative, the carmaker will send a trained technician right to the customer’s doorsteps to carry out minor maintenance and sanitisation work.
