Tata Altroz iTurbo Unveiled in India, Launch Soon

The long due Turbo-badged Tata Altroz has now been unwrapped by Tata Motors in India. Dubbed as the Altroz ‘iTurbo’, the powerful premium hatchback features minimal cosmetic change inside and outside. In addition to the existing shades, the Tata Altroz iTurbo gets a new cool blue paint scheme called Harbour Blue. Powered by the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, Altroz iTurbo prices will be announced on 22 January 2021. The company has started accepting the pre-bookings for the new Altroz iTurbo at its respective dealerships for a token amount of Rs 11,000.


When the launch happens later this month, the new turbo range is expected to be restricted to three variants XT, XZ, and XZ+. The 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine gives out 108bhp of maximum power and peak torque of 140Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The upcoming hot-hatch version of Altroz is certified to deliver a fuel efficiency of 18.13 kmpl. The iTurbo Altroz goes from 0kmph to 100kmph in just 11.9 seconds.

There are also chances of the introduction of a new alloy wheel design of the turbo Altroz model. Moreover, the company is tight-lipped about its plans to launch the AT/DCT equipped Altroz in near future. With turbocharged engine under the hood, the Altroz iTurbo will now compete with the likes of Volkswagen Polo TSI, Hyundai i20 Turbo, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Turbo in its segment.

In terms of tech-connectivity, the 5-star safety rating hatch comes with unique ‘What 3 words’ function, which assists the driver in finding exact locations by saying just three words. Similarly, the voice-assist feature allows control of car’s features through voice commands and even via 70+ Hinglish commands. The ‘Express Cool’ feature of the Altroz iTurbo chills the cabin 70 per cent faster than usual.

Further, some more elements that are expected to make way in the Altroz iTurbo comprise of 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, a 7-inch colour MID, cruise control, Harman sound system, ambient lighting, keyless entry with push-button start, and other premium attributes that are a part of Altroz legacy.
