The HBX micro SUV will come powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and will be Tata’s counter to Maruti’s Jimny SUV.
Good news for car buyers! Tata’s new HBX micro SUV is preparing for its India launch. This small SUV projects Tata’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy and its dimensions are read – 3840 mm of length, 1822 mm of width and 1635 mm of height. At the previous Auto Expo, the production model of the HBX micro SUV concept was one of the key attractions at the Tata Motors’ pavilion and very soon the car will launch in India.
The name of the Tata HBX concept is yet to be decided. This micro SUV is built on Tata Altroz’s platform and will compete against another upcoming small SUV from Maruti Suzuki, the Jimny.
The Tata HBX concept carries a SUV stance with large muscular wheel arches. Though the car is still pronounced as the concept model, but the production version of this car will be same as the current concept. The new HBX will be offered only in the petrol engine and will feature the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine that will generate 86 bhp of maximum power. It will be available in both manual as well as automatic transmission gearboxes. In addition to this, Tata is also planning to produce an electric variant of the car with the expected price range of Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh.
The expected date of the launch is around May,2021, which is tentative. Alongside upcoming SUV Maruti Jimny, the Tata HBX will be compete against Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 NXT and one more rival, which is yet to launch from Hyundai later this year.
