Over the years, it has gotten many facelifts and updates and is on its way to becoming a complete car. It is a great budget family hatchback and a daily driver which consumers need. Let’s look at the variants on offer and see, which one should you bring home.

Tata Tiago is offered with a single 1.2-litre petrol engine which makes 84 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The amount of power from this engine is sufficient for city driving and occasional highway duties. Power delivery is adequate and it builds up the pace nicely. There is no distinction in the variants on the basis of powertrain as all the variants are equipped with the same engine.

As it can be derived from the table, there are a lot of variants on offer for the Tata Tiago. All of them are priced adequately and still undercut the competition and offer value to the customer. All variants are offered with a petrol engine, so the distinction becomes easier. If you are planning to buy an AMT, then the XTA variant would be the most value for money as you will get the convenience of an automatic along with features at a fair price. However, the gearbox is not a preference, the XZ or XZ Plus variant would be a better buy considering your requirements as these will be the most value for money variants.

Tata Motors has equipped the Tiago with the necessary safety features from the base model. However, they do not include ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts even in the top variant which is a disappointment. Although, all variants are adequately equipped with safety features but considering the price, it is not a very good idea to pay a premium for something which you can get in a lower model. After studying the table, the best variant to buy in terms of safety features would be XZ (if you do not have a gearbox preference) and XTA for those who want to opt for an AMT.

Comfort and Convenience Features

There are plenty of comfort and convenience features on offer in different variants. However, there are a few misses like there are no rear AC vents in any variant and the same is the case with push-button start. Tata could have included these features in the top variants to aid customers. After evaluating the table further, the most value for money variants are XTA (for people who want to opt for an AMT) and XZ. Both of these variants have sufficient features which fit right with the cost. Buying these variants will increase the satisfaction level of consumers.

The interior of the Tata Tiago is a nice and pleasant place to be in. It has all the sufficient entertainment features, but in the base variant, everything is missing which is a big disappointment as cars which are a segment below, offer everything right from the starting. In terms of interior and communication, XZ is the value for money variant again as it gets all the features you would need. If you want an AMT, then XZA has all the features but the cost would increase significantly. If you could compromise on a touchscreen, then XTA would be the next best buy.

Conclusion

Tata Motors has done a great job in launching a budget hatchback that promises a lot to the customers and delivers on that promise. It has all the ingredients to make it an attractive choice for customers. There are a few misses and some areas where Tata Motors could have done better, but everything considered, XZ and XTA variants are the most value for money variants. If you are planning to go for a budget hatchback, do check this car out.
