Tata Tiago NRG, the Urban Toughroader has launched in India at the starting price of Rs 6.57 lakh (ex-showroom). It is a crossover version of the Tata Tiago with a more rugged appeal and striking exterior design. Tata Motors like to call it the ‘Urban Toughroader’ and have launched it in exciting new colors, namely, Foresta Green, Snow White, Fire Red and Cloudy Grey.
The NRG is a souped-up version of the regular Tiago. It gets some cosmetic enhancements, namely, black body cladding, silver faux front and rear skid plates, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, gloss black element connecting the tail lamps, boot integrated spoiler and blacked-out ORVMs, C-pillar and roof.
Interior and Features
The NRG will feature an all-black cabin to maintain the sporty appeal. It will include, fabric upholstery, rear parcel tray, all-black cabin layout, digital instrument cluster with a 2.5-inch multi-information display and piano black accents on the steering wheel and AC vents.
The feature list on the NRG is more or less similar to the regular Tiago. The list includes push-button-start, keyless entry, electrically foldable ORVMS, cooled glovebox, 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8 speaker system by Harman-Kardon, steering mounted audio controls and height-adjustable driver seat.
Compared to the standard hatch, the facelifted Tiago NRG is longer, taller, and has a higher ground clearance, thanks to the front and rear skid plates and roof rails.

Tata Tiago and the NRG share the same powertrain. Tata Tiago NRG comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine which produces 85 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. This powertrain will be offered with a manual as well as an AMT transmission. It offers satisfactory performance and is a reliable city commuter and an occasional highway cruiser.
Tata Tiago NRG is backed by a Global NCAP rating of four stars. Tata Motors has done a great job in equipping the NRG with necessary safety features. The list includes ABS with EBD, dual airbags, rear parking camera with sensors, corner stability control, rear defogger and front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters.
Tata Tiago NRG has been priced strategically between the Tata Altroz and Tata Nexon. The introductory price for the MT variant is Rs. 6.57 lakh and Rs. 7.09 lakh for AMT variant. Bookings have been started for the Urban Toughroader and is ready to put on a show.
