Looking to buy the Tata Tigor but unable to take a decision on the variant? Read this post to know which variant you can consider buying.
Tata has been a prominent name in the Indian car market in recent years. It was not a very likeable and sought-after brand some years ago because it did not have the quality products to go against the rivals. Tata Tiago was the hatchback that proved to be of significant importance for Tata Motors as it brought them back into the game and helped them to achieve greater heights. Gauging the success of the hatchback, Tata Tigor was launched, which was a compact sedan based on the Tiago. Customers liked the vehicle and it became fairly popular in the industry as well. It had some first-in-segment features which set it apart and made it attractive. However, there are plenty of variants on offer and for customers who are willing to purchase this car might get confused, that’s where we come in.

Tata Tigor is offered with a single petrol unit that produces 85 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. These are adequate figures on paper and in real-world conditions as well. It is a fairly peppy engine to drive with ample grunt and is a good engine for city driving and occasional highway duties. This is a frugal engine and is known for returning good fuel economy figures.

As one can derive from the above table, there are sufficient safety features on offer for the Tata Tigor. However, there are a few misses which might affect the purchase decision for some people. None of the trims gets automatic headlamps which could have been included in the top-spec variants and none of the variants gets ISOFIX child seat mounts which is a major omission. Moreover, the rear camera is only added in the top variants and could have been included lower down the range.

Comfort and convenience features are displayed on the above table and it’s safe to say that there are plenty in the Tata Tigor. However, in this department as well, there are a few misses like, there are no rear AC vents and cruise control on any variant. This might be a deal-breaker because the competition in the segment offers these features. Overall, there are plenty of convenience features but Tata should rectify this omission to increase sales.

From the above table, it becomes clear that there are not many interior and connectivity features on offer for the Tata Tigor. It also misses out on leather upholstery, leather steering wheel and leather wrap gear selector. But the major drawback is that only the top variants come with a height-adjustable driver seat and a touchscreen. Both of these features could have been included in the middle variants to aid customers and Tata should improve on this.
Conclusion
Tata Tigor is a compact sedan that comes with an adequately powerful petrol engine that provides above-average fuel economy figures in real-world conditions. It has a spacious interior that can accommodate a normal family and that is what most buyers in this segment look for. Moreover, there are ample features in every department and the pricing is also reasonable which might attract people with a budget constraint. Through this comparison, the most value for money variant is XZ and XZA Plus. XZ has all the necessary features required at a reasonable price, while people planning to buy an automatic can go for the XZA Plus variant.
