Here’re the most interesting facts about upcoming Renault Kiger, the sub-4m SUV.
The French carmaker is set to unleash its latest bet – Renault Kiger – in the Indian automotive market. Expected to be launched around the festive season, the sub-4m SUV (codenamed: HBC) will sit under the Renault Duster in the Renault India portfolio. The Kiger crossover SUV will be based on the Common Module Family (CMF-A) architecture. Heavily camouflaged Kiger has been spied testing several times in various parts of the country.
After marking successful run with the Duster, Kwid, and Triber, Renault is now all set to disrupt the compact SUV space in India with its Kiger. So let’s quickly move to the exciting aspects you don’t know about the Kiger SUV.
Shares Platform with Nissan Magnite
The upcoming Renault Kiger will be sharing the platform with Nissan Magnite. Both the cars will feature CMF-A+ platform jointly developed by Renault-Nissan duo. We are not alien to this platform as it already underpins the Renault Triber. With the Renault badge, expect the Kiger (or repackaged Triber) to become a more premium offering. Remember the difference between Nissan Sunny – Renault Scala and Nissan Micra – Renault Pulse.
Only Petrol Lineup
Based on the same platform, the Kiger will use the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine of the Triber. It will produce max power of 95hp and will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Expect a CVT transmission as well with the Kiger. It will be a petrol-only offering, just like its stablemate.
Exciting Feature List
The upcoming Renault Kiger would be in one of the most demanding auto markets of the world. It is expected to be loaded to the brim with features such as large touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC, steering mounted controls, push start/stop, leatherette upholstery, built-in navigation system and others.
The upcoming subcompact SUV Renault Kiger would be locking horns with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV 300 and Ford EcoSport. And in coming months, it will have more rivals in the name of Toyota Urban Cruiser and Nissan Magnite.
