    After creating a lot of buzz from the Auto Expo 2020, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is finally here in India at Rs 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Borrowing the platform from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the subcompact SUV gets a starting price higher than the competition. It gets the same engine-gearbox options as that of the Brezza. The Urban Cruiser gets three variants – Mid, High and Premium.

    Engine and Specifications

    The Toyota SUV is available with a single engine option – the K-Series 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It can be had with both a 5-speed manual as well as a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The mileage figures read 17.03kmpl for the manual and 18.76kmpl for the automatic.

    The mild-hybrid technology assists in fetching out better mileage per kilometre due to its brake energy regeneration function and other smart tech features. You get the option of both transmissions in all three trims of the Urban Cruiser.

    Colour Options

    The SUV gets 9 colour options – 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone shades. However, the dual-tone shades are restricted to the top-spec Premium variant. The six colours include silver, orange, grey, blue, white and brown, whereas, the dual-tone ones are brown with black roof, orange with white roof and blue with black roof.

    1. Toyota Urban Cruiser Mid

    The base trim of the Toyota SUV gets standard features such as LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, body colour ORVM, black skid plates, full wheel cover, black roof rails, a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, steering mounted audio controls, 4 door speakers, glove box & front footwell illumination, engine start-stop button, auto AC, tilt-adjustable steering, remote keyless entry and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.

    In terms of safety, it gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear defogger, speed-sensing door locks, driver and co-passenger seat-belt reminder, high-speed warning system, reverse parking sensors and hill hold assist (AT only).

    2. Toyota Urban Cruiser High

    The mid variant of the Urban Cruiser gets additional goodies over the base ‘Mid’ trim. It gets cruise control, rear washer and wiper, height-adjustable driver’s seat, rear centre armrest with cup holders, overhead console, sunglass holder, silver skid plates, map lamp, luggage room lamp with accessory socket, 60:40 split rear seats, gunmetal colour roof rails and black alloy wheels.

    From the High variant, the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is introduced. It also gets steering mounted controls for Bluetooth and cruise control along with voice command feature.

    3. Toyota Urban Cruiser Premium

    The top-of-the-line Premium variant of the Urban Cruiser gets all the bells and whistles the SUV has to offer. Over and above the High trim, the features on offer in this trim comprise of LED fog lamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels, two tweeters, front centre sliding armrest with cup holder, leather wrap steering wheel, auto rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding ORVMs and cooled glove box.

    The additional safety features that you get in the top-spec Urban Cruiser include reverse parking camera with display in audio, auto headlamps on/off and adjustable shoulder anchor for front seat belts.
