Tata Punch Quick Review

Tata Motors has been one of the first automakers to pounce on the opportunity of unveiling a Micro-SUV and their offering is called the Tata Punch. Tata Motors has been improving drastically and has been capturing market share rigorously in many segments. They intend to exploit the Micro-SUV segment by moving ahead with the Punch.

Tata has unveiled the vehicle and its safe to say that it actually packs a punch and is indeed a very attractive proposition. With its boxy-design, the Punch opens up considerable room on the inside, with the Length x Width x Height being 3827x1742x1615 respectively. Tata Punch also gets a considerably large boot which is anywhere around 320 to 366-litres and a ground clearance of 187mm.

Tata Punch Pricing Details

Tata Motors is yet to unveil the price of the vehicle but it is estimated to be around Rs 5 Lakhs to Rs 8 Lakhs (ex-showroom). However, Tata Motors has opened the bookings for the Punch at Rs 21,000.

Tata Punch Powertain and Specifications

Tata Punch will be available with the 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol engine which does duty on other Tata cars in the line-up. It will be a 3-cylinder unit which will churn out 85 bhp and 113 nm of torque. It will be mated to a 5-Speed MT and a 5-Speed AMT. We have seen this engine in the Tata Tiago, Tata Altroz and Tata Tigor as well and the engine is fairly peppy to drive in the city and has just about adequate grunt for highway duties.

Tata Punch Mileage

Tata Motors has not yet disclosed the fuel economy figures but it is expected to give a decent figure of around 14-15kmpl in the city and 18-20kmpl on the highway.

Starting with the safety features, the Tata Punch offers dual airbags, foglamps with cornering function, ABS and EBD with brake sway control, reverse parking camera with guideline, parking sensors, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Coming to the interior bit, it comes equipped with 90-degree opening doors, automatic climate control, push-button start, cruise control, auto-fold ORVMs, 7-inch floating infotainment screen with connected car-tech, height adjustable driver seat and many other useful features.

Tata Motors has made the Punch visually appealing on the outside by introducing it with different and exciting color options. It comes in seven different colors namely, Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist, Meteor Bronze, Tornado Blue, Calypso Red, Orcus White and Daytona Grey.

Tata Punch is expected to be pitted against Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the upcoming Hyundai Casper as well.
